Social networking has taken the online world by storm. Almost anyone and everyone with an internet connection has a presence on some social networking site or the other. The motive behind signing on to such sites vary though. Some people do it to find old friends while others are trying to make new ones. Businesses use social networking sites to create a brand image and interact with customers first hand. These sites are also effective yet cheap ways of marketing products and services,
One such site that has gained tremendous popularity is Twitter. It has given people the ability to communicate with hundreds of millions of people globally within a matter of seconds! However, unlike other social networking sites, the technology used by Twitter is different. Here some things you should never do on Twitter if you want to use it effectively:
- Don’t over-tweet. If you are going to be sending out messages every 5 minutes, you will eventually end up spamming the pages of your followers and they will ultimately stop following you! Limit your Tweets to a maximum of 3 a day
- You don’t have to build a conversation with EVERY Tweet. If you have 3 tweets in a day and 10 responses to each, you will end up with a very confusing page!
- People expect that just because they started following someone, that person will follow them as well. This doesn’t work! Who you follow tells a lot about what you are into so only follow those people that genuinely interest you.
- Be original and don’t just keep re-tweeting other people’s messages, create your own posts and make them interesting!
