With the popularity of “going green”, it was only a matter of time before computer technology got in on the act. If you are like many people who buy cacti because they are low maintenance and you can forget to water them and they will still strive, there is new technology available with the click of a mouse, which will help you in the garden.

Watering and Weather Systems

Many people make the mistake of planting too early, when frost at nighttime can kill your tomato plants or flower beds. There are monitors that will set off an alarm when the temperature drops below the dangerous level for plants and vegetables. This alarm will warn you that you need to cover your seedlings and sprouts overnight.

There are gadgets that will send hourly updates to let you know if you need to water your garden. Since over-watering can sometimes kill certain plants, this is a very handy tool.

These systems also measure humidity, wind, and sun.

Environmental Aids

There are sensory programs generated by a gadget you can place in a potted plant that will let you know if your plant needs more or less water, sunlight or shade, and some of these devices will even send you cell phone alerts, letting you know your plants need watering.

Mowing Your Lawn by Robot

There are robotic lawn mowers you can program to keep your lawn’s curb appeal all summer long. Set it to trim the lawn at a certain time, on a certain day, and watch in amazement as it avoids your border fence and vegetable garden, through sensors.

In order for most businesses to survive it is important to utilize the Internet. Sadly, not every business is taking advantage of internet service, thereby losing a large audience of customers.Technology has advanced to the point that it is no longer unheard of to do business on a daily basis with people on the other side of the world.

Good business sense tells you that it is important to know whom your customers are and what their needs are. You may be wondering how to possibly analyze this from your website. There are free online surveys available that can help you find the answers you are looking for to those questions.

These sites create short surveys for your customers to answer. Unlike many of those long surveys that deter and frustrate, these surveys are short and to the point.

Tracking your customers will provide you with the useful information you need to make your site succeed. It is important to know what keeps your customers coming back. It is also important to realize what is keeping your customers away.

In order for your business to prosper you need to use every means available to draw the customer in. Consider using click ads to draw your customer to your website. These can be used virtually anywhere, you often see them on social networks.

Take advantage of the resources available to small business owners. Many of them may make the difference between your business succeeding or failing.

Recycling is not often seen as a fun activity. In fact, for many people recycling is just another inconvenient trip into town; however, recycling does not have to be “just another trip to the recycling center.” Recycling does not even have to involve going to the recycling center. And, when you make recycling seem like fun, more people around you might decide to take up recycling, too.

Plastic bottles and metal cans might seem like a big waste of space after they have been emptied, but both have fun uses after they are emptied. Cans and bottles can be turned into planters, which makes it even easier to go green while recycling. If you have children, plastic bottles can also be used for science experiments to explain things from recycling to alternative and renewable fuels. Glass bottles can be used as planters as well, though the glass can be hazardous if you have children, in which case it is probably better to send the glass to the recycling center.

Another recycling nightmare that can be turned into a green planter is an old computer. Different people have different views on these computer planters, but they are becoming increasingly popular among environmentally-friendly people. If you wish to try this with your own old computer then remember that the inside part of the computer should still be sent to a recycling center, since there are many chemicals and wires inside computers. The shell is the only part that should be used at home.

Going green and recycling can be fun. All it takes is some initiative and imagination.

Technology currently changes at such a rapid rate that as soon as you buy one product another is released that out dates it. People often switch computer hardware after only a few years of use, sometimes within one to three years of buying a product. When this happens, the old hardware becomes a cumbersome annoyance in the house that takes up space. When thrown out, these items often end up in landfills where they can cause damage to the environment and are wasted.

The materials used in the production of computers, printers and other hardware include various metals and plastics that can easily be turned around into new products. Recycling is the perfect answer to solving this problem and is not that hard to do. Many cities have recycling facilities that accept old computer hardware for recycling. To encourage this practice, they will often hold a day where people can bring in their items to various pick up locations.

One piece that is critical to recycle are printer cartridges. These can have chemicals in them leftover from ink which can be poisonous to the soil and animals. Office supply companies will usually offer incentives for you to bring them in and give you a coupon to use towards merchandise. The manufacturer may include a postage paid envelope for you to return the old cartridge in. This helps to protect nature from chemicals and also allows for the transformation of the old item into a new one that has the latest technology.

An increasing number of hospitals and physician offices store patient medical records on computers. These electronic medical records look more professional, which results in a better impression on your patients and clients. Computerized patient record systems also reduce medical errors caused from entry errors and miswritten or illegible handwriting.

Patients who have elaborate histories will receive better patient care because old paper records deteriorate over time. These high-maintenance patients need medical records that doctors can access for a long time. Fortunately, electronic records escape the wear that makes paper files unreadable when doctors need the information the most.

Paper medical records should be transferred to electronic form in a systematic fashion to avoid loss of information or data. EMR solutions can help with storage, conversion and organization. Electronic medical records improve patient outcomes because the important data is quickly accessible from remote medical locations when permission is provided. For example, an emergency room visit in a different town or state may warrant a need to know patient history, particularly if the patient is unconscious with no support person. Third parties can be consulted easily when the patient record is electronic. Furthermore, the insurance claims process is streamlined, which results in faster payments and less manpower to turn in insurance claims.

Patient record storage with EMR solutions is safer because the trove of patient medical records is stored offsite in a secure system. Patient records are safe from fire or natural disaster, in case the office becomes damaged. EMR solutions provide modern, convenient and efficient medical records services for your office. Invest in secure electronic medical records service to improve patient care and streamline document processes.

Social networking has taken the online world by storm. Almost anyone and everyone with an internet connection has a presence on some social networking site or the other. The motive behind signing on to such sites vary though. Some people do it to find old friends while others are trying to make new ones. Businesses use social networking sites to create a brand image and interact with customers first hand. These sites are also effective yet cheap ways of marketing products and services,

One such site that has gained tremendous popularity is Twitter. It has given people the ability to communicate with hundreds of millions of people globally within a matter of seconds! However, unlike other social networking sites, the technology used by Twitter is different. Here some things you should never do on Twitter if you want to use it effectively:

Don’t over-tweet. If you are going to be sending out messages every 5 minutes, you will eventually end up spamming the pages of your followers and they will ultimately stop following you! Limit your Tweets to a maximum of 3 a day

You don’t have to build a conversation with EVERY Tweet. If you have 3 tweets in a day and 10 responses to each, you will end up with a very confusing page!

People expect that just because they started following someone, that person will follow them as well. This doesn’t work! Who you follow tells a lot about what you are into so only follow those people that genuinely interest you.

Be original and don’t just keep re-tweeting other people’s messages, create your own posts and make them interesting!

There are plenty of differences between a regular digital camera and an SLR camera. First off, the price tends to be a little bit different- but this is not just a status symbol thing. These are two different kinds of devices which are intended for two entirely different types of people to use. One of them works well for casual of users who do not want to think about snapping pictures. While the other one tends to do very well for professional users who really want to delve into the craft of fine photography.

Digital SLR cameras are professional tools for professional users. They do not just snap a picture without thinking about it. First off, these are the kinds of cameras which one keeps in a case that almost looks like a purse, because there are always tons of peripherals to be stored and potentially used. If you want to decide whether a particular focus length will do good things for your depth of field, or you really want to decide how you want flowing water to look (easy to choose when you select your shutter speed), this is the kind of camera you are going to need. But most people don’t need this level of sophistication.

For most people, a camera is just something for snapping pictures of pretty scenery and their friends and family. They do not care about all of the little extra things a fancy camera can do, and they really do not need to spend the extra money on one. SLR cameras are too much for many people, who don’t like fancy photography.

A quick summary: it’s an obstacle course involving a tiny ball, which you move around using only headsets you wear around your ears and forehead to monitor your…brainwaves. Brainwaves! An actual device that renders you a telekinetic! And, yes, it actually does work, and there are no gimmicks. You simply have to concentrate, and the ball moves.

Pretty insane, huh?

Well, now the game Mindflex has returned, upping the ante even more. Now instead of it being a standard multi-player board-type game, you have a head-on duel strategy game! The name of the new product is actually “Mindflex Duel”. Instead of one headset, you have two–one for you and your opponent. Your challenge is no longer the finish line, it’s your opposing player! The concept is pretty simple: you have the same kind of obstacle course and ball, only your ‘brainwaves’ are pitted against another’s. Now that’s the age of the future! Two telekinetics against each other. There’s even a co-op mode in the game, allowing two people to actually work together to accomplish a common goal! Now that’s a provocative idea.

The Jedi and the Force have arrived in a $99 package for the family, and in all honesty it’s worth the money. You can recall more than a year ago when the first Mindflex arrived that it had overwhelmed the consumer audience with the power of its technology, and the pricing was NOT an issue. You can be sure that this Mindflex version won’t disappoint either.

Catch the future in this phenomenal game this August of 2011, and enjoy Mindflex.

Everyone loves getting a new computer. It is enjoyable to have a new, up-to-date system that can play the flashiest new games and access the internet at faster speeds. However, there is work to be done when you are ready to upgrade. First, you have to make sure you get anything off your old system that you may possibly need. Be sure to back up pictures and document files you want to save and software you installed.

After you have done that, it is very important that you clear your system of all of the information that someone could use to hurt you. If you have stored any bank records or passwords on the computer, it is very important to clear those before you do anything else. Also, make sure the history on your computer is well cleared so that no one can get into your online accounts and access information you may not want to share.

With computers advancing every few years it can become a nuisance to constantly do this clean up. It is wise to consider open source programs that allow you to run these programs from any computer and at anytime, saving you the inconvenience of having to tidy up and clean your computer every time you change computers. Free source applications like Open Office lets you have a full office suite just like Microsoft while GNU cash is a similar program for accounting and small business purposes. You can use others as well like Freemind to organize and mind map your thoughts and data. Any downloads are small enough to load onto a USB Stick and you no longer have to have the physical data which may have sensitive and private content stuck on your hard drive.

After you have done these tasks, you have to figure out what you are going to do with your old system. There are many different alternatives. You can recycle computers; there are many companies that will take your old computer, strip any useable parts, and then recycle the remaining plastic and metal pieces. They will usually either pick up your computer for free or provide a postage-free way to ship your products to them. Another option is to give your old computer to someone who can get some use out of it. Maybe you have a friend who has never owned their own computer and would have no problem using a model from several years back. A final option is to sell your computer on eBay or Craigslist. You may make a few extra dollars this way. Just make sure it is especially well cleared off in this case.
